CIVIX is a non-partisan, registered charity dedicated to building the skills and habits of active and engaged citizenship among young Canadians. One of its key programs is
Student Vote: a parallel election for students under the voting age, coinciding with official election periods.
The purpose of the Student Vote program is to provide young Canadians with an opportunity to experience the democratic process firsthand and practice the habits of informed and engaged citizenship. Public elementary teachers in Ontario have taken advantage of this opportunity for many years and ETFO is proud to provide financial support to this important organization.

February 12, 2018Dear Chris Wilkins:The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has always been very proud to support CIVIX and in particular, the Student Vote campaign. Fostering a strong understanding of democracy and civic engagement is fundamental to our democratic future. ETFO members contribute to strengthening support for democratic rights by participating in the Student Vote campaign.CIVIX has provided fantastic resources to ETFO members to bring this experience to classrooms across Ontario. Recognizing that this involves considerable cost, the ETFO provincial Executive has decided to provide $10,000 in yearly funding for the next three years to support the organization. We look forward to our continued partnership and continued promotion of democratic and civic engagement.
