The Trans Day of Remembrance serves as an annual reminder of not only the risks, but also the real danger that society inflicts on trans* folks. 

The tip sheet below consists of reminders for the correct manner to address transgender people and is based on guidelines compiled by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’s (GLAAD) article, Doubly Victimized: Reporting on transgender victims of crime. Though these examples reference particular individuals, they are universal principles that can be applied to students, colleagues, parents, and throughout our communities.
